Indiana Disproportionality Quarterly Community Event
“Eliminating Disproportionality: Sharing Our Progress”
Beginning in February 2015, the IDC began presenting quarterly events that highlight discussions on eliminating disproportionality. The IDC is committed to helping create equity within the systems that serve our youth. We desire to see the percentage of children of color in the five areas of child welfare, education, juvenile justice, mental health, and health systems in proportionate numbers that mirror the overall population demographics.
Organizations that have stakeholders in both the private and public sectors are asked to share the vision that children of ALL races and ethnicities are equitably served in Indiana’s respective systems. In our role of providing the community with updates about disproportionality issues, we invite panelist from the community to present their five areas at our “Eliminating Disproportionality: Sharing Our Progress” event to reveal and articulate the accomplishments, findings, barriers, and gaps from within each of the five sectors. We also strive to see how IDC can support the efforts of other community members and agencies as they strive to sustain their accomplishments and to help continue their advocacy to address the barriers and gaps in services for our youth.
All are welcomed to attend and hear our guest panelists from community organizations and other concerned community members who also share in the vision to eliminate disproportionality in the five Indiana’s systems we target. Check the website events link to see our upcoming dates.
